Landfill and transfer station services
Richmond Valley Council operates a landfill at Casino (Nammoona), as well as transfer stations at Evans Head, Bora Ridge and Rappville. Charges are levied as per the current Council Revenue Policy. Council is an active member of North East Waste, a regional group of Councils working collaboratively towards cost-effective waste management solutions. For further information, visit the North East Waste webpage.
Separate services for e-waste, fluorescent tubes, batteries, steel, gas bottles and tyre recycling are available at all landfills and transfer stations.
Nammona Resource Recovery and Waste Facility: Monday – Sunday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Evans Head Transfer Station: Wednesday: 8.30am – 4.30pm, Friday: 8.30am – 4.30pm, Saturday: 8.30am – 4.30pm and Sunday: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Bora Ridge Transfer Station: Saturday ONLY: 9am – 2pm
Rappville Transfer Station: Sunday ONLY: 9.30am – 12.30pm
We are committed to resource recovery, reuse and diverting as much as possible from landfill. Nammoona Tip Shop is growing and there are some wonderful treasures to be found every day from vintage items, bikes, books, furniture and more, so pop in today and grab a bargain.
Namoona: Wednesday: 10.00am – 3.00pm, Thursday and Friday: 10am – 2pm, Saturday: 10am – 3pm
Evans Head: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Both sites closed: Australia Day, Anzac day, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Have you got any of the following items piling up in your garage? Old paint, motor oil, blown light bulbs, broken smoke alarms or out of date gas bottles, then it’s time for you to visit Casino’s community recycling Centre at Nammoona Waste and Resource Recovery Facility on Dargaville Drive.
Other items that can be dropped at the CRC include:

- Plastic containers
Only household quantities of the above materials will be accepted. As a guide a maximum container of 20 litres or 20 kilograms each of the wastes listed.
By separating your problem wastes and taking them to your local CRC, you are helping to improve recycling, reducing waste to landfill and looking after your local environment.
